"I am tempted to write a cheesy allegorical testimonial involving of being lost at sea, drowning, having a life saver thrown out to me, burning my ship, and reaching new shores.
But instead I am just going to say this: When I started my 12-week Transformation, the one thing of which I was certain was that I was unhappy. I wanted to change, and I was SO ready, but I needed help. My weight loss goal seemed insurmountable, and I didn't know how to reach it in a healthy way.
I had seen the ads for Revelation Fitness in many Austin magazines, and had fantasized about undergoing the kind of transformation the otherwise-normal people in all those ads had undergone. They all looked so strong, so healthy, so tan and shiny, and so DIFFERENT from their "before" pictures-- and it had only taken them twelve weeks. In the words of "30 Rock" character Liz Lemon, I thought, "I want to go to there."
I made the call. I waited excitedly for my orientation with the famous Mariah, where I imagined I would tell her shyly that all I wanted was to fit into the size 0 jeans collecting dust in my closet. The last time I had been able to squeeze into those jeans was five years ago, but I couldn't bear to part with them. Doing so would mean admitting that I would never be that small again, condemning myself to a lifetime of skinny-fatness.

Well, Mariah came in like a tornado, and by the time she left, fitting into the size 0 jeans had fallen by the wayside as a goal in favor of competing in a bikini contest, which happened to fall almost exactly at my 12-week mark. Wearing those skinny jeans would be a happy byproduct of preparation for the contest, but was not hardcore enough as a goal by itself. Not only did I agree to strut on stage, nearly naked, in front of hundreds of spectators, but I also agreed to blog about my experiences and post my blog updates to Facebook. I had agreed to a ridiculously lofty goal, and I had agreed to tell everyone I knew about it. My ships were on fire.
Over the next twelve weeks, I changed dramatically. I became stronger, faster, more confident, happier, skinnier, and more knowledgeable about how to take care of myself. I went from a diet of nearly 100% carbohydrates to a diet of balanced protein and carbs. I learned to nourish my body, rather than simply satiating my desire for food and drink that taste delicious. I received overwhelming support from friends, family, the RevFit Community, and even total strangers. Yes, there were days when I fell off the wagon, hard, and ate peanut butter and ice cream in grotesque quantities. But I learned the valuable skill of picking up where I left off, not beating myself up or panicking, and forging ahead.
By the end of my 12-week Transformation, I had lost 18 pounds and gone from 22% body fat to 8.5%. I competed in the bikini contest, and although I didn't place, I didn't look out of place. Oh, and I could fit into those jeans too.
RevFit helped me clarify my goals, and then built a program specifically for me to reach them. I needed to be accountable to someone besides myself for what I was doing and eating, and RevFit provided that accountability. I needed to have fresh, challenging workouts every time I went to the gym, and RevFit kept me on my toes. I needed to know that my goals weren't unreasonable, but completely within my reach, and RevFit gave me the confidence and tools to reach them.
Hallelujah, I have seen the light. Amen."
