A Latino client of ours from Corpus Christi laid it out for me: "I cannot eat clean Mariah," he said sadly. "I associate food with joy."
I stared at him blankly for a minute.
"But wait," I thought to myself. "I associate food with joy too."
I considered it for a minute and realized something profound: I had never told this client - or any of our blog readers - what a typical, marvelous day of food looks like for me.
So here it is: my Sunday of eating. I hope you enjoy it half as much as I did. According to my food journal it totaled about 1,350 calories and was balanced between protein and carbohydrates. I tend to eat Paleo for the most part, but Sundays I allow more treats and carbs to slip in.
9 am - wake up after a ritual Sunday sleep-in and have coffee with a bit of BNRG Mocha-flavored protein powder in it
10 am - Protein pancakes made with almond flour, almond milk, oatmeal, eggs, egg whites and protein powder with blueberries. YUM. Eric had bacon and eggs on the side of his but I wasn't feeling particularly meaty today. Strange for me I am typically a carnivore.
12 pm - protein shake with frozen peaches and 2 scoops of almond-vanilla protein powder with a little almond butter mixed in. I make it thick so I can eat it like ice cream beside Eric, who eats the real thing on Sundays. Must be nice to be a guy.
2 pm - large salad with romaine, kale, butternut squash, salmon and an apple
4 pm - powercrunch choklat bar - tastes like the real thing and maybe my favorite Sunday treat.
6 pm - cocoa with 20-calorie diet cocoa mix and BNRG Choloate-Fudge protein powder, a couple of slices of turkey and some strawberries
8 pm - almond-crusted chicken parmasean with marinara sauce and broccolli on the side. Eric makes this so well it is TO DIE FOR and I look forward to it all day. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow as it's all gone lol
If you hadn't noticed, I eat ALL DAY and LOVE everything I eat.
