"I Wish I Could but I Can't...

Transformation #215. 182lbs to 152 lbs, 23% to 5% bodyfat. 12 Weeks ]
...Want it for you, that is.

I can help you, coach you, push you, and motivate you, but I can't WANT it for you. It is for you to decide how hard you are willing to work, and how bad you want to reach your goals. This is why we stress the importance of ship burning goals, and why we tell you to do the vision boards, tell your friends, publicize your plans, etc. We want you to realize that you have come to us because you want to make a change in your life. Well now there is no going back, so put it out there for everybody to see and MAKE THAT CHANGE.

The only thing stopping you from being who you want to be is YOU. It's not your kids, your job, your social events, or your hectic lifestyle, it's you. When you finally decide that enough is enough and you are ready to change your life no matter what it takes, then I can promise you that we will get you there. If you only put one foot in the water to see if it's comfortable before you jump in then I'm sorry, but you probably won't make it. If you constantly give yourself an out or a reason to quit, then you've never even given yourself a chance because you're already expecting to fail.

If you can look in the mirror and tell yourself that you will hit every single goal that you've set and you don't give a damn who or what gets in your way, then email me and tell me you're ready to book your photo shoot, because you're going to make it.

I can help you, coach you, push you, and motivate you, but I can't WANT it for you"

Why We Do This: An Ode to Jim

Jim Nettles, Owner
Revelation Fitness
How many people can say they genuinely love those they work with?
I am sometimes amazed at how blessed I am in a partner. The day Jim Nettles walked into my life is one I won't forget. For the years I have known him Jim has been one of the nicest, most steady, genuine souls you'll ever meet.
Take for example last week: I got in a car wreck.
Jim cancelled his afternoon, picked me up, drove me to the rental car place, stayed with me on a hot & humid afternoon, made sure I was alright, and helped take care of all the details before he went home.
He can't help it. It comes naturally to him.

Changing lives, motivating people to reach their pinnacle... these are the things that drive Jim. And they in turn drive me. And everyone around him.
So this is my Friday ode to Jim. You make this job sweeter and easier than it really should be.

Kick Monica Brant's Butt!

Revelation Fitness was honored to 'Kick Monica Brant's Butt' for a photoshoot for Austin Fit Magazine this past Friday!

Thank you Austin Fit Magazine for shooting On-Location
at one of Revelation Fitness' fave clients' houses!

The Workout:

Warmup: Bodyweight Drills, Kettlebell Swings, Olympic Lifting Drills
Main Set: 21-15-9 Squat Cleans / Burpies (65# Monica / 95# Alex) – For Time
Tabata Abs

The Why:

At Revelation Fitness we train clients on Programs, not specific workouts. In pre-screening for this workout we learned that neither Monica nor Alex were training for anything specific (e.g. a Figure Competition, which would have demanded a Physique Transformation workout). Both had very solid nutrition, and are extremely fit. So our goal became to raise the bar for them, which is pretty darn high. We decided to use the 21-15-9 standard Metabolic Conditioning protocol, a Crossfit tool to increase athlete’s power output in their workouts, and over time. Super-setting squat cleans and burpies would use their core muscles to burn as many calories as possible in a workout that would also tax their shoulders, abs, and legs.

We actually modified the workout last minute from advanced:advanced to advanced:intermediate – for two reasons. First, Mo had never Squat Cleaned before and confessed some shoulder issues that we wanted to take into consideration. Second, the energy of the one-workout drop-in did not call for the 700 (Mo) – 1000 (Alex) calorie workout we had planned, so we decided that 500 / 800 on the first workout would be sufficient. In the original version of the workout, they would have Squat Cleaned, returned the bar to the ground, then without removing their hands from the bar, jumped back into a chest-to-bar pushup.

From the whining it seems like the final version of the workout was sufficient.

Mo’s time was just sub-11 minutes – and she learned how to Squat Clean! Alex completed the workout in an impressive sub-12 minutes at 95#.

Great job guys!
