Reveal #202... on the importance of being a size 2

Revelation Nation Reveal #202 called us at 132 lbs, 24.5% bodyfat, in a size 10/12.

4 Weeks later she was 125 lbs, 19% bodyfat.

Then she almost lost her life.

Two weeks after her recovery, when most people would still be mourning the losses she incurred in the incident, she decided to get back on it.

This week she struts into her 'After' shoot at a lithe 118 lbs, 10% bodyfat, and a petite size 2.

Here she speaks about what really matters - and the real reason for Revelation.

"Hey Guys!!

I am celebrating today for an abundance of reasons because I am 12 weeks out from my blood clot. I enclosed a picture taken of me May 3rd the day my life changed forever and today I can say that I am truly stronger and healthier than I ever have been.

I love being 118 and a size 2 but it's not so much about the weight and size like it was in the beginning.

It's that I feel amazing and I GET to wake up in the morning and rock it in the gym.

I don't have to but I want to.

No one in the hospital would tell me why I was hooked up to so many machines but I had a very large clot in my heart and I am so very lucky because a person in average health would have died. I am truly blessed.

Thanks for all your help and believing that I would come back strong.

It's a great day for celebration!!!"

Q&A With Coach Mariah: Tough Questions on Tragedy & the Road to Recovery

Coach Mariah fields a hard question on Facebook.

FB'er: I have actually suffered Gulf war syndrome issues and I am just now starting to feel better. My health was deteriorating slowly and I am now focused on getting in shape.

M: Well there's one thing about trauma: it's a tremendous amount of energy. Think of it as a HUGE offshore oil well that you've (perhaps unintentionally) tapped and there's no plugging it up - so you can either channel it straight into a system that lines your pockets or let it dump into the Gulf of Mexico and destroy existing life - and life you can't even conceive of or imagine at this point. Your well is open, [FB'er] - there's no going back or plugging it up. So where you gonna dump that energy? >}

FB'er: Great anology Mariah! I belive that everything happens for good reasons and I am inspired.

M: Good!! Now go watch 'Grindhouse' and meditate on the peg leg. It's hard to pray, "Thank you God for my peg leg!" but you just do and then one day you realize you can shoot bad guys with it and it's your Superpower! (I so hope you've seen the movie so this doesn't sound totally nuts :) ).

Revelation Remake #202: A Lesson in Resilience

Revelation Remake #202. 132 lbs to 120 lbs, 24.5% to 12% bodyfat so far

Jillian was 132lbs, 24.5% bodyfat the day she started in our Online Program

4 Weeks later she was 125 lbs, 19% bodyfat.

Then she almost lost her life.

Two weeks after her recovery, when most people would still be mourning the losses she incurred in the incident, she decided to get back on it.

Just a few weeks shy of her 'After' Shoot, Jillian is 120lbs and 12% bodyfat.

Explain Revelation Fitness to Me

Our Client Kareem is at the End of Week 3. He is down a total of 15 lbs to 197.

Kareem can't workout yet - he can only do the diet - on account of a surgery (we knew this going into his program so he'll be training with us for 16 Weeks). His results are therefore based STRICTLY on diet.

Kareem is posting his weekly progress photos on Facebook, and his friends are firing questions at him: What are you doing? How are you doing it? How much does it cost?

Kareem answers below.

Q: What are you doing to lose the weight Kareem? How does it work? How much does it cost?

A: "Revelation Fitness basically treats you like a celebrity to get your where you want to be. A diet trainer looks at your diet almost, if not daily to help you make better food choices and combinations. Then, a physical trainer literally works you out. Everything is charted and counted.

There is a reason Matt Damon or Brad Pitt can get all jacked up and then lose it for a different role. They will treat you like a celebrity. It's pretty awesome, as are the results. [My wife] looks great, but she's not putting pictures up.‎ [note: Kareem is posting his progress shots every week on Facebook].

I've said "God I'd pay a MILLION DOLLARS to lose the weight I put since college. How many trainers have I gone through? How many different athletic endeavors? Half marathons? Triathlons? Long Distance swims? 100 mile bike rides? While it is expensive, Revelation Fitness is for real, and way less than all the other stuff I've been trying only to not get results.

They should be paying me for this marketing."

Q&A with Mariah: Abolish Your Logical Fallacies

Coach Mariah responds to two logical fallacies - one via email, one via Facebook. Both might be holding YOU back from achieving your goals. Are these thoughts you've had?

Logical Fallacy #1: Putting the Cart Before the Horse
V: "Hi Mariah, Thank you for your friend acceptance. I look forward to your inspiration as I go through my journey. I have already lost over 150lbs on WW and now need to really shape up, but do not want to Bulk up.. Any suggestions? You look awesome. needless to say, I have not done that much exercising as of yet.. I am ready to get my butt ready to shape up.. "

Mariah: "V congratulations on your loss so far! My first tip is: get after it and don't worry about "bulking up." That is an irrational fear at this point that people use to not try: tantamount to me saying I don't want to start a Savings Account because what if I make allot of money, start investing wisely, and the stock market crashes and I lose it? Totally irrational and a poor (if articulate and widely accepted) EXCUSE! Get your butt to the gym tomorrow! xo"

Another response, from Michael O, who himself was 'bulky' (50 lbs overweight) but recently lost it and now competes in triathlons long and lean: "It is astounding how often I hear a woman say "I don't want to bulk up." I hear this from my female friends all the time when I ask if they want to join me at the gym. I'm not a fitness professional like you, but as someone that runs 6-15 miles a day, bikes and swims regularly, rock climbs, does 40-60 pull-ups daily, and eats well, I can assure women everywhere that it is hard to build bulk. It doesn't happen on accident. Women with muscular quads or big arms bust their ass for them they don’t 'just happen'.”

Logical Fallacy #2: Non-Sequitors
To Mariah by email: “I'm a ICU nurse and with the long hours & crazy stress level, I've really struggled with emotional eating and all the negative effects-mood swings and feeling down.”

Mariah: "Excuse is the wrong word for this logical fallacy: non-sequitor is. Part B does not logically follow from Part A.

I have no doubt that you struggled with emotional eating, but I think the source is not your job. I hear the same thing from stay-at-home-mom’s believe it or not.

Unravel your NSQ's: logical connections that lead you to fear, depression, and overeating.

I think what you’re saying is you sense that your body is a reflection of what’s going on inside – but you’re not sure how to address it. It’s complex. The good news is that I do believe that in answering the question, “What fitness program is going to get me results?” you will find the answer to some of your other questions."
